Assassins are too fragile, when I was in a mission with a Assassin, I had to constantly heal him, every hit he got took him down to about 50% health, while our tank took about 2-3 damage each hit. Assassins are good for shadowstepping, which makes them a fun class to play.
but thats just my random uninformed rant, dont mind me.

Tell that to the corpses of the eles, mesmers and monks lying at my feet in the alliance battles or Aspenwood while my assassin seeks his next prey.

Assassins may be good in PvP, but they're so bad in PvE to the point where groups flatout refuse to take any assassins.

I've had trouble getting into groups with more than one assassin, but never as the only one. Assassins are so surgical that they're a great asset to a group, if played properly.
Big if.

I think Faction has destroyed the GW title. Alot of people are quitting in disgust, I must admit that I'm on the verge of doing the same.

Factions turned out a big dissapointment for me - 6 weeks in and I'm bored to tears of it, wheras Prophecies kept me interested for 9 month's.
There's just not enough variety to scenary or quests - rather than try to make PvE more of a challange by rerquiring thought to solve puzzles etc all that the devs have done is chuck in more mobs, forced you to clear the same area X number of times, added time limits and worst of all added more keep the stupid AI npc/creature alive wherever they could.- these things do not make a game challanging they make it infuriating and boring as does forcing us to need 10k faction to enter towns to carry on the game, then not putting in enough unique quests to earn so forcing PvP or faction farming grind of having to repeat the same quest over and over on those with no interest in it..
The impression I have is that it's all gloss with no substance - even the new weapons/items are uninspiring - few nice skins but they're no bette stats/mods wise than the old ones.
Will I be getting Chap 3? well at this point in time it's highly unlikely that I'll still be playing GW when it comes out, as having taken 2 characters through the game and done every mission/quest possible (some more than once because of poor design) on both kurzick and Luxon sides, I just can't be arsed to go through the whole chore again with my other 3 let alone start a new one as neither of the 2 new professions are that inspiring.
I know that the bog standard reply to my complaints is play PvP, it's a PvP game after all with a bit of RPG tacked on - well imo the impression I get is that it was supposed to be an RPG but the devsa realised there was just not enough to keep people hooked so added the PvP on to increase longevity - personnally I can't stand Pvp as it just seems full of self-important teenagers thinking they're something special because they type like a prat. The sole appeal of GW for me was the chance to play an RPG with friends co-operatively (if i wanted to solo with henchies or farm solo I'd play an offline rpg) with no monthly fees - without that there is no appeal to GW.

Factions is NOT a disappointment to me, cause I've had loads of fun up to this point. But with my assassin finished the whole game, my warrior and ranger beaten the last mission and got themselves another set of 15k armor I fear I've lost a goal to accomplish. I started a Monk yesterday to try and get the Survivor title, but one little PUG screwed it up again. And now I'm not really bothered to do it AGAIN.
Conclusion, up until now I'm happy with Factions, but I fear my mood is going to change. If I'm going to buy Chapter 3? Definitely. I'll never say no to that question.

Yeah, so this made me laugh out loud. Just a little bit. If you're so disgusted, feel free to quit. No one made you buy Factions. No one is stopping you from playing Prophecies. The thing about episodic chapters rather than monthly fees is that if you don't like one, it doesn't hurt you to skip it. You'll still be just as powerful as anyone else when the next one you like comes out. If you never like any of them after the first, you still get free feature updates when they get around to them because they're nice like that. You only have to pay for the new content you want.
But more to the point, it's pretty hard to destroy a series with a sequel that's outselling any number the original ever managed by a generous margin. Dispite the claims of mass /ragequits throughout various forums, the total number of people buying and playing has increased dramatically. They must have done something right, whether you want to admit it or not. An awful lot of us are playing the game and enjoying it greatly (Somewhat more than Prophecies in my case) rather than making angry posts on forums.
So if you don't like a chapter, don't buy it. Simple as that. Check out the next one and see if it's more to your liking. Stop back every six months or so, see if anything you like is going on. It doesn't hurt you or us a bit for you to disappear whenever you're not liking the latest episode. If they ever make an episode I don't like, I may very well do the same. What I won't be doing is pretending like my preference for the style of one episode over another makes any difference compared to the overwhelming success of the series as a whole.
Only time will tell, of course. If the Guild Wars series crashes and burns because of Factions, I'll freely admit that you told me so. I'm just finding that possible future highly unlikely based on what I see when I back up and look at the big picture.

As much as I dislike agreeing with a Portsmouth fan (joke). I have to admit that Factions has been a fairly large let down for me.
Basically it boils down to the fact that i enjoy creating a new class combo and taking it through prophecies. Once was enough in Factions.

We will indeed. May I ask which delusions you are talking about in particular? I'd would very much like to know more specifically what you are refering to.

Problem might be the money if talking about hiring proper voice actors i.e voices behind games such as Baldur's Gate, Lucasarts games etc...
But the biggest problem might be the shortage of time to do quality content.

The QUESTION...
Is Factions a Letdown.
NO
However there were several things that needed (NEEDS) to be changed (Prophacies included) and I believe Anet will get to it or has already made the changes. Overall I am happy with the result.
Can't wait for Nightfall.

Here is another case where it depends on the player. I am happy with factions because I got exactly what I wanted : new skills. Although I do understand why other people are dissappointed with it. You say the factions pve is uninteresting, I personally never found prophecies pve interesting. The reason alot of people say prophecies is better is because prophecies was new, factions is just more of the same. People were expecting a completely different game.
Although suprisingly for me, I actually enjoyed pve for a week, but then i realized i was doing the same things i hated in prophecies.

I really got bored of the content in Prophecies, even went to play Eve-Online for several months.
Factions introduced alliances, and it also introduced a flood of player activity!.. now my guild is more active and more fun that it ever has been!
As for the PvE content, no.. I dont see it a let down, simply because Ive been playing GW 12 months with hardly any new content, the abundance of content and challenge that factions has brought will keep me and my (now very large) guild going for along time.
I see Factions as having brought our guild back to life!.. and really, your guild is what Guildwars is all about.

I'm just going to get my tyria Nec and Monk, and my Cantra Rit and Assasin to complete factions then transport them to Tyria and probably stay there.
I think that in factions, you level up to fast. Where in Prof you level up gradually and the enermy level up slowly with you, by the time you get to level 20, all the other players know how to play there char's and you can get good pug groups and have a very good chance of completing a mission.
In factions, you have people who are not shall we say "experienced" and then missions take 5-10 go's before you do it, when with an experienced team you should be able to do it 1st/2nd time.
Where you more or less fight lv20+ enermies as soon as you leave the "Starter Island" it's no wonder people have to keep re-doing missions over and over again.
